Thematic Concept, Artistic Design, and Production
The challenge of this major charity fund-raising event was to create a theme for the ball and transform the enormous reception hall of the Wortham Theatre into an intimate dinner setting for 500 guests seated around a 25-piece orchestra and dance floor. We designed and constructed a "stained glass" conservatory, under which guests waltzed around a centrally located, multi-tiered stone water fountain surrounded by lush ferns and flowering plants. The 30' x 50' dance floor was faux finished to represent giant limestone blocks. Backdrop to this Viennese splendor was a 24' x 35' hanging canvas depicting the Schonbrunn Palace and gardens, drawn by Louise Girard, and painted by an "army" of hardworking students and family volunteers.
